Paddle the Black Canyon
Join ODR for a 2-day canoe expedition of the Black Canyon in Nevada (just south of Lake Mead)! Launching from the base of the Hoover Dam, we will explore the wonders of Black Canyon and soak in natural hot springs and geothermal features. You might see desert bighorn sheep, hawks, lizards, and if we’re very lucky, bald eagles! Paddlers will have the opportunity to explore small caverns, grotto’s, and hidden coves along the banks of the river. Fall paddling on the Colorado through Black Canyon is relaxing flat water, with smooth and glassy waters, and the occasional current, but no rapids.
After the first day of leisurely paddling, we will be having a river side camp out on the beach next to the Colorado River, where ODR will prepare a specialty back-country dinner next to a warming fire under the stars. Call ODR for more details!
