Recreation Aid (Lifeguard), NF-01

Seeking Lifeguards to work at the pool at Fort MacArthur Military Base, San Pedro, CA. Lifeguards are responsible for maintaining a safe aquatic environment for all patrons and staff. This includes scanning the pool for distressed swimmers, making rescues when necessary, providing first aid to injuries, and performing CPR and using an AED when necessary. Cleaning is also an essential part of maintaining a safe aquatic environment. Lifeguards are expected to sweep any debris around the pool, keep bathrooms and locker rooms clean, and vacuum any debris from the pool bottom. Lifeguards will need to be able to work well as a team when performing all duties and rescues. Life-guarding is a fun and rewarding job that allows you to work outside and protect lives!

Qualifications:
Must have an approved and current nationally recognized certification in lifesaving and water rescue methods and skills, as well as basic first aid training, and CPR (both child and adult) training. Experience which provides a practical knowledge of swimming activities, rules and procedures and skill in the use and maintenance of various pool and safety equipment is desirable. Must be able to satisfactorily complete installation records checks, state and national criminal background checks.

Recreation Assistant (Lifeguard/Swim Instructor), NF-02

Seeking Lifeguards/Swim Instructors to work at the swimming pool at Fort MacArthur Military Base, San Pedro, CA. Lifeguard/swim instructors are responsible for maintaining a safe aquatic environment for all patrons and staff. Information, Tickets and Travel Manager, NF-04

The ITT Manager oversees the day-to-day operation of two ticket offices (El Segundo and San Pedro) that sell amusement park tickets grossing +$3 Million in annual sales. Vendors include Disneyland/ California Adventure, Universal Studios Hollywood, Knott’s Berry Farm, Six Flags Magic Mountain, LEGOLAND CA, SeaWorld San Diego, Sand Diego Zoo & Safari Park, Aquarium of the Pacific, and many more. The ITT manager supervises the ITT Recreation Assistant staff and trains them on proper sales procedures and educates them on available attractions. The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining proper inventory an internal controls and will be responsible for the overall financial success of the operation. This position involves processing end of month reconciliations, setting budgets and cash flow projections, and briefing the Base Commander at the quarterly NAF council. The ITT manager is also responsible for negotiating and establishing local contracts with vendors in the local area.

Qualifications:
Two years of progressively responsible administrative, professional, technical or other work that provided a general knowledge of management principles and practices. Experience must demonstrate knowledge of proper cash handling procedures, the ability to resolve common arithmetic problems used when receiving payment from customers, and the ability to operate cash register or point of sales system. Must have skill in gathering, interpreting and evaluating data; knowledge of retail sales, purchasing, inventory control and marketing/advertising. Must have experience in budgeting and be able to interpret such data for daily use. The experience must have provided knowledge of accounting and financial planning principles and procedures. Must possess skill dealing with the public. Must be able to read, write and speak English and able to communicate effectively. Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office, to include Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Working knowledge of RecTrac POS system is highly desired. Recreation Specialist (Outdoor Recreation/Programming), NF-03

Seeking an Assistant Manager/Programmer for the Outdoor Recreation program at Fort MacArthur, San Pedro, CA. The ODR Program Manager serves as the Assistant Manager for the overall Outdoor Recreation operation and manages all aspects of the Outdoor Adventure Program. This position conceptualizes, budgets, plans, and guides organic programs such as backpacking trips, overnight canoe trips, stand-up paddle boarding and kayak lessons, ski/snowboarding trips, and is responsible for transporting and cooking for large groups of participants. Utilizing a special fund, this position also contracts out a range of community-focused and high adrenaline adventure activities that we are not able to provide in-house such as whitewater rafting/kayaking, rock climbing, skydiving, zip lining, etc. This position takes place about 90% in the office and 10% in the field running programs (on weekends). Office duties include drafting time control plans, emergency action plans, trip risk management forms, creating participant gear lists, and informational slide decks/marketing materials for upcoming programs. This position also assists with running the equipment rental operation and mentoring/ educating the Recreation Assistant staff.

Qualifications:
Knowledge of the basic principles, procedures, and practices of operating and a comprehensive outdoor recreation program. Knowledge gained through relevant experience which enables the employee to competently carry out continuing and non-recurring outdoor recreation programs through the proper application of the principles, concepts, and techniques. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures as relating to various outdoor recreation activities. Skill in preparing forms, schedules, and reports related to the obligation and expenditure of funds is highly desirable. Skill in planning, organizing, coordinating, conducting and/or evaluating recreation activities and programs. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Must possess skill in dealing with the public. Knowledge of office automation software (PowerPoint, Word, and (Excel) is required. Must possess a valid state driver’s license. Must be able to obtain a CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) for a 15 passenger van, within 90 days of employment. Must have or be able to obtain a CPR certification within 90 days of employment. A Wilderness First Aid/ Responder certification is highly desirable Must be able to satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (Tier-1). This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to pre-employment and random testing for drug use.

Qualifications:
